RESEARCH TOPIC: IS GRAFITTI IN SPACE POSSIBLE?
In the piece titled Travel With Your Mind, I sought to answer the question: is graffiti in space possible? Traditionally when one experiences graffiti on earth, it is in the form of a paint that has been applied to a surface, most commonly an urban wall. When contrasted with the infinite darkness of space, the traditional medium no longer applies, literally. Travel With Your Mind explores the boundaryless canvas from within Tilt Brush, an appropriate tool for simulation because it doesn't provide the artist with walls. While teleporting inside the galaxy, the only objects that provided visual stimulation were stars, planets, and the sun. Because of perspective, at times I felt as though I was traveling through sheer curtains patterned with stars. I was inspired by this experience, and used the light brush to create a neon light - spray paint hybrid that over time will fade, just like the light of a star.
